20 June 2011

Thrifty, flirty, & thriving.

This weekend, Katie and I kind of did something a little crazy.
Something neither of us have ever done before.
And that friends and family were shocked to hear we had done.

We thrifted.

Calm down! We survived. More like, we sur-thrived.
I'll give you a little sneak peek of the things that I snagged while out thrifting with my besty.

1. This is the first thing I spotted when we walked into the "blouse" aisle, and I just loved the little buttons that came up at the neck.

2. The second beauty I spotted was a gorgeous silk front-tie shirt. I can't wait to wear this one!

3. Last but not least, my favorite of the lot, was this floral hunk of awesome with the classy pearl button at the top. I swooned over this, and once I sew it up I'm sure you'll be seeing way too much of me in it.

From our thrifting experience, we learned a few things.
1. Katie and I are allergic to thrifting. Seriously. Whatever that devil detergent is that they use to wash all the clothes made Katie itch all over and my lungs close up and suffocate me to death.
2. Despite being allergic to the universe, we actually enjoyed it and can't wait to go again!
3. $7.50 for 3 shirts?! Get outta town..

We also got free yogurt cookie sandwiches from Yodipity this weekend. Because we're thrifty.

The strange thing is, I don't think we were the most excited about these sandwiches of deliciousness.

I love you, love you, love you!

Today was the first time in about 100 years that Jake and I have actually been able to spend time together.
And let me tell you what, it was simply splendid!

I'm loving having my camera fixed!

{watch out for that blue steel!}

The day started out just hanging out at my apartment, watching some TV. I decided that I should probably go to Tempe Marketplace to get the dress that I wanted from DownEast, as well as pick up my pottery from As You Wish. So we made it a date!

First we went to Barnes and Noble and bought some books. I'm so excited to actually be able to read something I want to read this summer instead of boring books about who composed what in 1903!
Next, we went to lunch together at Axxio (used to be Slices). We got the BBQ chicken and bacon pizza, and let me tell you what, I don't think I ever want to eat anywhere else in my whole life!
After that delicious meal and picking up the things I needed, I had to go to Mesa Riverview to get some pictures that I ordered for the empty picture frames in my room.
Since we were going that way, we decided to stop by for by one get one free Yodipity. I literally jumped around like a dog getting a treat when I saw that they had my favorite flavor, red velvet! It made my day.
After our little day date on the town, we came back to my apartment and watched some more TV and played Words with Friends while sitting right next to each other. I made us dinner, then it was time for him to leave.

It was so nice to have a day where I didn't feel like I had to do anything. And I got to hang out all day with the person I love to spend the most time with, and I'm so glad we finally got to spend that time together just being us. During the school year, I don't feel like us. I feel like we're too busy to truly be there for each other. Today showed me how nice it is to be in love.

"If you were to cast me off now -- but you will not -- you would never be rid of me. No one should come between us. I would pursue you to the death."

Feeling Easter-y.

Quick update since I have homework to do!

I love the Easter Pageant!
It's such a beautiful story about our savior. I definitely get a little teary eyed and then try to hide it from everyone else who is also trying to hide their tears from me.
I had such a good time walking around the temple and watching the pageant with Katie.
Even if she won't send me all the pictures from it because she doesn't like them.
That's why my camera needs to be fixed, like now!
Then I can put up any picture I want to! MUAHAHAHA.

After the pageant, Yodip was having 25% off, so of course me and Katie had to go get some.
I love looking at all the pictures the people draw there while eating my delicious yogurt.
Because it is delish.
Hope yall's Tuesday is going well!

PS; I'm wearing jeans today because I found out that I lost ten pounds over Lent, so I felt like celebrating by not wearing my usual skirt!
Woot me!

26 March 2011

A funny mess.

This phrase, said by a Jesterz improv-er, basically describes my last 24 hours.
Along with this picture:

Honestly, I'm surprised in still alive.
My terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day:
1. Professors being jerks and schedules tests all on the same day the week after spring break.
2. Staying up all night with my friend Jessica studying for these exams, with the help of some RockCraps and Burkholder's A {Ridiculously Long and Boring} History of Western Music.
3. Not being used to caffeine and feeling sick all morning. Thanks, RockCraps.
3. Bombing every test that I took today. So the all-nighter was futile.
4. Taking the bus because no one could take me home after my horror scenes, then having my bus driver try anything in his power to kill me (i.e., punching it before I could sit down sending me flying through the bus, abrupt stops, hopping curbs, swerving like a madman, etc.).
5. {DISCLAIMER: this is pretty gross. Move on to #6 if you get queasy easily.} Going to the bathroom at the Tempe Transit Center, right next to a woman who was having some obvious stomach problems. I mean, literally, sounded like she was exploding every few seconds. And at each explosion would say "oops" or "that felt good." And then I threw up.
6. Having to take another bus, with another horrible bus driver. I had to do the preggo mommy breathing the entire time and try to keep bathroom girl out of my mind.
7. Getting home, so excited to go to sleep, and finding out that I'm too tired to sleep. So I laid in bed for an hour and a half before I could actually fall asleep.
8. Waking up way sooner than planned because I yet again had to go to the bathroom. Thanks again, RockCraps.

But what goes down, must come back up, right?
My wonderful, marvelous, fabulous, very good day:

1. Going to Jesterz. Let me tell you, they are fantastic. Hilarious. Fairly clean for comedy skits. I have been twice now and it is seriously such a fun thing to do on a Friday night out! It cheered me up immediately.
2. Reaching into my purse and finding a full Yodipity stamp card, and realizing that I would be receiving a free cup of joy. It was a miracle.
3. Chocolate is supposed to make people happy, so I went with York Patty yogurt, thin mints, and brownie bites. Mmmm, happiness overlooooooad!
4. Crayons & Jessica's birthday! And all my beautiful friends who I got to spend the best part of my day with {Amber, Katie, and Lauren}.
Happy birthday to Jessica!
5. My best friend. She always makes my day.

Proof that I survived!

{Daily outfit syle}

I hope you survived this Friday, too.
