The love of a mother.

Every 7 years, my mom shares her special day with another, more recognized, special day - Mother's Day. Growing up I always thought this was so fitting. She is everything a mother should be - kind, compassionate, patient, and loving. She was meant to be a mother to her three babies, and especially to her little Colton, who needs her love more than anyone else. Somehow she finds a way to share herself. I guess that's what being a mother is all about

Even though I was never able to spend these days with her, I always tried to give back some of the love she showed me throughout the year. Someday I'll be able to see her, hug her, and spoil her rotten on her special days. But for now, dedicating a special post just to her will have to do.

So Happy Mother's/Birth Day Mom! I love you with my whole heart.
You are my sunshine.

Christmas time.

For our first married Christmas together, we visited the magical land of Washington with it's miles of blue waters and endless green trees. In this mystical state resides my family - my mom, her husband, and my two little brothers. We were lacking in the Christmas spirit until we landed in the 20 degree chill, and suddenly we knew what it was like to feel like Christmas.

From walks in the rain to late night talks; from real Christmas trees to real white snow; from trips to Multnomah Falls to shopping in downtown Portland and watching Les Miserable in the best theater in the US; this had to be my absolute favorite Christmas of all time. We stayed through New Years and were able to bond so much with my beautiful family. And even though the snow didn't stick to the ground, I still consider this the perfect white Christmas.

Next thing's...next.

Hooray for awkward post titles! And two days in a row of blogging! I'm on a roll tonight. Anyways, seriously. The next important thing in the long list of things that I didn't blog about is my new face. And by face, I mean hair.

I went from this (please excuse the crappy iPhone pictures...that predicament is another post for another day):

To this:

Am I crazy? Bangs + ombre at the same time? I think not. I'm so in love with my hair. I've always wanted to be as cool as Zoey Deschanel, and now I can pretend even more that I already did. Also, my mom is the best hairdresser of all time. And one more picture of my bangs. THE END!

(bear with me during this awkward return-blogger stage where I say awkward jumbled up messes of kerbobbled things that make no sense. Like kerbobbled.)

Friday the 13th.

I hope it's no unlucky to post today.

Today is my mom's birthday!
Hair dresser, belly dancer, super mom extraodinaire!
I seriously have the best mom in the world. My whole life was spent far away from her, but from the time I can remember I have always wanted to be like her. She's kind to everyone, understanding, and nurturing. She has had so many challenges in her life, and she's finally being rewarded for her bravery in this life! She is so strong and such an inspiration to me. I hope to some day be as good as she is. I'm so glad that Heavenly Father chose you to be my mom. I love you so much!

You are my sunshine.

Scenes from the week.

Not the weekend, the week.
Because for some reason, I haven't been able to blog all week.
Hmm, I wonder why that could have been...

I had my music theory final on Friday...and I got a B!
Most of my weekend was dedicated to the music history final, which I took Monday.
♥ I have been practicing piano for about 15 hours now, so hopefully I do well on my final in about 3 hours. {Did I ever mention I bought myself a piano? Maybe I should some day...}
♥ For Mother's Day, my dad and I took Grandma out to Red Robin for dinner. Yum!
♥ My grandma is such an amazing woman, she is smart, funny, getting her doctorate, and way cooler than me. Happy Mother's Day, Grandma!
♥ Isn't my mom gorgeous? I will have a special Mom post on Friday, but I just have to say Happy Mom's Day to the best mom in the world!

Now, back to practicing...
